Using Social Media to Better Your Business

Not just for personal socializing any more, many social media outlets are now being used to grow business. It’s about advancing your brand while building lasting relationships. Below, are a few tips for using certain specific social media tools to your advantage.
  • Use Twitter to Connect

    Twitter is a social network that encompasses a wide variety of business professionals in almost every industry. Simply put, this tool is used to state what are you are doing. This outlet is a great way to make your company come alive, making you look more accessible while humanizing your efforts. Search for people in your industry or possibly prospective clients that can use your services, then ask to “follow” them. Read daily “Tweets” to stay current on people and businesses driving your industry as you repeatedly market your brand for free.

  • Build a Facebook Fan Club

    Originally started as a way to find long-lost friends, Facebook is fast becoming an excellent way to build your brand. Creating a group or fan page on Facebook gives you a new way to interact with customers plus offers an incredible opportunity to expand your reach. Host several discussion board posts (similar to a blog) and ensure you keep your wall posts current. This demonstrates that your online community is active and will keep your customers coming back on a regular basis.

  • Become a LinkedIn Member

    LinkedIn is an interconnected network of experienced professionals from around the world, representing 170 industries and 200 countries. When you join, create a profile that summarizes your professional expertise and accomplishments. Then form lasting connections by inviting contacts to join LinkedIn and connect to you. Your network consists of your connections, your connections’ connections, and the people they know, linking you to a vast number of qualified professionals and experts. Use your LinkedIn resources to collaborate on projects, find potential clients, locate service providers, participate in industry discussions, discover new business opportunities and more.

  • Establish Credibility with Blogs

    Blogs started out as online personal diaries. But today, many businesses are writing blogs to provide commentary on a particular subject or a description of an event. Casual in nature and updated regularly, blogs are an ideal way to establish credibility within your industry. The great thing about a blog is it invites your online patron to comment on what has been written; opening an interactive forum that has the potential to produce a lively, online environment that encourages repeat visitors.

Farley’s Pizza

With a wide variety of wings, subs, salads, and of course pizza, Farley’s Pizza currently offers an online presence that includes a comprehensive menu listing and online ordering. Last month, Farley’s Pizza came to Digital Sabre for help redesigning their Web site. DSS is now in the process of improving the overall appearance of the site, giving Farley’s a completely modern, updated online look. Once this is completed, phase two of the project will include restructuring the online ordering system by streamlining the process and improving the functionality.

Colleton Software

Established in 1997, Colleton Software specializes in the resolution of paperwork and reimbursement problems encountered by Emergency Medical Services. Offering services and products to automate ambulance service provider call and billing records, Colleton’s software greatly simplifies the documentation process. In the coming months, DSS will be working with Colleton to re-engineer their flagship software product, making it more efficient while enhancing the functionality. Beginning in October, we will follow the development of this project, from beginning to end, in an effort to clearly illustrate the systematic process DSS employs with all clients; the most efficient, cost-effective way to manage an IT project.
 
Accomplishments
 
US Airline Pilots Association

Digital Sabre recently completed a project for the US Airline Pilots Association (USAPA) that encompassed many different aspects, with the primary goal being to create a more interactive, functional Web site. The end result is a content-managed site that integrates a customized email management tool, the ability to complete online polling, and the capability to electronically create and send newsletters. Now, visitors can interact with more content and the Web site itself can better serve the organization and its members. USAPA represents 5,200 Mainline US Airways pilots and was founded on the principles of accountability to provide each member the benefits and controls of a truly participative organization. DSS Uses BNI to Network

Business Network International has created a “Charlotte Corporate Connections” chapter.  This is a strictly B2B chapter, and includes a group of Charlotte-area business professionals who gather once a week to pass referrals. BNI allows only one person per profession to join a chapter. The goal is to help each other grow their business. Last year the chapter passed hundreds of referrals. Director of Sales for Digital Sabre, Will Leger, recently gave an informative presentation about how businesses can use DSS to advance and grow.
