How a Student will use the e-Learning system
- Students can use the system through their respective organization’s login portal; once an organization has signed up, a sub-domain will be allocated that will act as a central e-Learning portal for that organization members.
- Once a Student (Participant user) has been registered in the system she can login through the organization login page. Students can be registered in the system either by the e-Learning provider or the organizational administrator users.
- A Student (Participant user) will be assigned a Position Title (designation). These Position Titles will have expected levels of competencies in various skills.
- An evaluation system which includes self, peer and supervisor reviews, rates a student’s competency in skills that are relevant to her position title.
- Depending on a student’s competency; which will be determined by taking the average of the reviews done by self, peers and supervisors, the system will intuitively suggest e-Learning courses that a student should follow.
- e-Learning courses can also be manually assigned to a student by the Organizational Admin users.
- Once a student logs in to the system they are able to browse and follow courses, carry out competency assessments and take part in examinations.
- A Course will consist of a ‘Lesson’ or a series of Lessons. For e.g. – A course in Project Management can have Time Management, Risk Management, Microsoft Project, Leading Teams as Lessons
- Lessons can have text, presentation, audio and video based content pages.
- There can also be questions which can be directed at Students during or at the completion of a lesson.
- Once a student has completed a course he/she can take an examination.
- A pre-exam can also be taken to practice before the final assessment
- The system provides a list of features that enhances user interaction and collaboration such as – online chat with other organizational members, course related forums where users can collaborate, share knowledge etc. and carry out online surveys.
Managing the e-Learning Program
The e-Learning provider organization can effectively manage the e-Learning program through as an Administrator.
- The e-Learning provider’s users (Super Users) can register organizations and create organizational users such as participants (students) and organizational administrators
- Super Users will create Position Titles which corresponds to designations in organizations. These Position Titles will be assigned to Participants.
- The e-Learning solution has a competency based student rating and course allocation system.
- Competencies are defined in the system by the Super Users. E.g. - written communication, presentation skills, PR skills
- Desired levels of competencies can be defined for the position titles. E.g. – the Project Manager Position Title could have a ‘High’ Level of competency in Presentation Skills
- Subsequently, when a student is assigned a position title, she will be benchmarked against the desired level of competency defined for that position title.
